Install a more aggressive camshaft into your 4.6L/5.4L Ford modular engines.
Because the Ford cam phasers have such a wide range of movement (up to 60 degrees retard), there is little piston-to-valve clearance, making moderate cam profiles with very little overlap the only option. These COMP Cams camshaft phasers limit cam phaser movement to 20 degrees instead of the factory 60 degree range. By keeping the camshaft timing in check, bigger camshaft profiles can be used safely without fear of engine-damaging piston-to-valve clearance issues. Best of all, this retains all of the benefits of the cam phasing. The COMP Cams camshaft phasers retain the engine's maximum low-rpm power without sacrificing top-end performance. They include two limiter plates (one for each cam phaser) and the tools required to install and disassemble the cam phasers.
